Intro

Ruth, John, and I

My name is Isaac Gerg and I went to [[Mansa, Zambia]] to visit my friends John and Ruth Mischler.   I’ll explain a little bit more about them and my connection to them later.  As for myself, I recently graduated from [[The Pennsylvania State University]] with my Masters in Electrical Engineering and am now working full-time at Raytheon as a systems engineer.  I am a Christian.  I currently live in [[State College, PA]].

I met John and Ruth during the Fall of 2006.  They were both part of a Bible Study I attended.  John and I hit it off pretty quickly.  Eventually Ruth came into the picture and the rest is history.

John and Ruth moved to Zambia as part of a [[Fullbright scholarship]] awarded to Ruth.  While in Zambia, Ruth is working with their farming community while John is starting some of his Phd work.  They have been living in Zambia since January 2009 and will return back to the US in August of the same year.  You can find more out about John and Ruth’s adventures in Zambia at their blog.

This website is meant to serve as a sort of expository essay of my trip as this is my first time leaving the United States.  The site is meant to capture the look, feel, culture, people, and relationships of Zambia during my short stay there.
